r. mike nichols is a native Californian. Born in Long Beach and raised in La Mirada. He attended Whittier College for 2+ years before transferring to California State University, Long Beach where he completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration and Masters in Art. He is an Artist Member of the California Art Club and a Signature Member of Watercolor West and the San Diego Watercolor Society.

He has received numerous regional, national and international awards and is a part of several Permanent Collections that include the Riverside Art Museum, Inland Empire Museum of Art, the Orange County Fair, Riverside Community College, Redlands Community Hospital and the City of Fontana.

His work has been juried into the Salmagundi Club, the National Watercolor Society, Transparent Watercolor Society of America, Pennsylvania Watercolor Society, Northwest Watercolor Society, California Watercolor Association, Signature American Watermedia, and Southern Colorado Watercolor Society.

Four of his watercolors have traveled internationally, “Watercolorist”, by invitation to the Eau en Couleurs International Watercolour Biennial in Belgium, “Quorra by the Gate” was juried into Watercolor International II in Greece, “Riverside Sunshine” by invitation to Watercolor International III in Greece and “Reading the Morning Paper” was part of the Shenzhen Small Image Exhibit in China. His acrylic painting “Floating 3” toured in California Dreaming: An International Portrait of Southern California where it showed in Italy, Oceanside and Riverside.
